    Your thoughts on same-sex marriage

Gay Marriage = Civil Rights....VOTE NO ON PROP 8!!!

O.K....I've gotten it from all sides that "Gay Marriage (or other protection)" doesn't equal "Civil Rights." If you are gay you can hide it!....Civil Rights...was for someone in a minority (color, gender, race, ethnic, religious, etc background) who could not hide "it" from the general public! ) Those "attacks" came mostly from people of color.....who I thought would be more understanding... I knew that it was out there, but finially found the statement of Coretta Scott King. The article that I found (www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-03-24-king-marriage_x.htm.) gives her support to gay marriages in an interview from 3/24/004. In that interview she denounced a proposed amendment that would support such a ban...that the Consitution amendments should be used to "expand" freedom, not restrict it...." "Gay and lesbian people should have families, and their families shoud have legal protection, whether by marriage or civil union.....A constitutional amendent banning same-sex marriages is a form of gay bashing and it would do nothing at all to protect traditional marriages.? Soooooooooo....if you want to use MLK as a defense for anti-same sex marriage...you may also want to listen to his widow? She knew him better than anyone of us!! I think Coretta knew more about "Civil Rights" than the most of us do....but in 2004 maybe she was just away ahead of her times......God forgive me, (a woman and a black one at that!)...but maybe she was a free thinker?......I may go to hell, but here's a glass to you Mrs. King! P.S. Since I'm now in Texas (and can't vote on this issue).... this is to all my friends in California! However, if you know anyone in C.A. please ask them to say no to Prop. 8...it's in direct conflit to Mrs. King's statement! P.P.S. SORRY LINK SHOULD NOW BE FIXED!
