Just as the flakes begin to fly as the Island braces for Weather for Nantucket... ...Currently Under...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY. * WINDS...NORTHEAST 30 TO 50 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH. * TIMING...TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY * IMPACTS...STRONG DAMAGING WINDS WILL BRING DOWN TREES AND TREE LIMBS...RESULTING IN SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. UNSECURED OUTDOOR OBJECTS WILL BECOME AIRBORNE AND DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES IS ANTICIPATED. TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT FOR BOTH MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS.
