    Snowstorm is first real test for N.J. utilities after Hurricane Sandy

    More than 500,000 customers have lost power in nine northeastern states because of blizzard blanketing area.

    Since Wednesday, when meteorologists began tracking two storms bearing down on New Jersey, officials from Public Service Electric & Gas and Jersey Central Power & Light were on the phone to local municipalities and others, making sure the lines of communication were open.
