    6AM Halifax Nova Scotia

At 6am in the Halifax region of Nova Scotia, a bit of a break between snow bands and the early risers are evaluating the snow accumulation so far.

Wind gusts of 66km/h are being reported at this hour with temperatures at -9C, windchill effect drops that down to -19C. The forecast calls for another 10 to 15cm with wind gusts in the range of 80-100 km/h.

The snow currently falling is more like ice pellets, with very light flakes. Halifax is on that edge of freezing rain and outright snow due to the coastline. Blowing, drifting & accumulating snow are the current road hazards.

Inter-city bus service has been cancelled province wide.

EMO services has recommended people stay off the roads, many stores in the city have elected to close for the day. Power crews are expected to be out at least until Monday. About 7000 residents across the province are currently out of power.
