IS THIS THE WORST POLICE FORCE ON THE PLANET ?
Motto: Culpam Poena Premit Comes
" Punishment Follows Closely On Guilt "
(Except if your a cop )
Abe Saffron alleged Sydney organized crime figurewith Chicago mob connections...was alleged to have paid off police commissioners,State premiers and you name it ! A reporter named Hickey wrote a book about it.....long before Peter Ryan's arrival in Sydney.
long-standing allegations of corruption against former NSW Premier Robert Askin and Police Commissioner Norman Allan. It claims that Saffron made payments of between A$5000 and $10,000 per week to each man over many years, that Askin and Allan both visited Saffron's office on several occasions, that Allan also visited the Saffron family home, and that Abe Saffron paid for an all-expenses overseas trip for Allan and a young female 'friend'.
Nightmarish Corruption in the New South Wales Police Force, one of the biggest and most CORRUPT police forces in english speaking World.
Peter Ryan was a
Highly respected senior British cop He tried hard to clean up the NSW police force
but soon discovered that corruption ran from the NSW State
political bosses, including the police minister, attorney general and premier right through the highest police ranks...he eventually was forced to resign !
How a bloody pom (slang for British) police chief struck gold in his bid to clean up sydney
When Peter Ryan, one of Britain's most respected senior cops took up his job here, he attracted rather more attention than would most new boys on the block.
They threatened to kill him and his family at home. They vowed to assassinate him on his way to work. They deposited fake bombs in his proximity. And a cabal of writers in the Sydney newspapers mounted a malicious campaign to smear his private life and end his appointment before it had hardly started.
Mind you, he did have one indelible black mark against him.
Peter Ryan is an Englishman. A bloody Pom. And a bloody interfering and utterly ruthless Pom at that.
Sydney had a steeply rising crime rate - mostly drugs-associated - matched only by widespread corruption within the New South Wales state police force.
In its wisdom, Sydney canvassed the world, headhunting for a fearless new-broom police chief who would scour its darker streets of violence, handguns, drug-trading and pavement prostitution, root out the crooked cops and head the massive security operation for the 2000 Olympics.
They interviewed 70 men, mostly from Europe and America. Peter Ryan, aged 54, formerly of the London Met, the Lancashire force where he'd handled the Toxteth riots, and latterly as police chief of sleepy old Norfolk, got the job.
As I may have indicated, this initially did not go down particularly well with the locals.
deed, it went down spectacularly badly when, after finding his feet, Ryan 'persuaded' 28 senior New South Wales police officers to seek early retirement or alternative employment after confronting each one face to face.
He then fired more than 200 lesser ranks.
'Those weren't easy days', he recalled in his 18th-floor police HQ office overlooking Sydney harbour. 'They tried to discredit and demoralise me at first but with a huge job to do I had to start out with a trusted force.' His strongest card, apart from his vast police experience, was that he is the antithesis of the plummy-voiced Pom. He speaks their language. 'The first thing they had to learn,' he said, 'is I don't put up with any crap.' Bent coppers were the first to discover that. Bent citizens came next as his 18,000-strong force cracked down on crime with a policy known as zero tolerance.
Skipione...Current Commissioner and a Former detective from a Sydney suburb...Nicknamed "The electrician" for conducting electronic bugging operations.
"One of the boys who won't rock the boat" !
I don't often focus on criticising or exposing corrupt police departments, because I am too occupied with World current affairs, etc. But as an expat British foreign correspondent who immigrated to Australia in the 50's and as a single father of Australians I am compelled to write about the NSW police force which is a disgrace to police everywhere and has a long history of corruption and much, much worse !
As a result of the terrible mismanagement of that force, Sydney, the most hyped up tourist attraction and Australia's largest city has become a nightmare of dangerous streets, home invasions, biker wars, drug dealers, murders and assaults and that's just scratching the surface !
The Australian media, which is completely owned and controlled by a small group of extremely rich men, like Rupert Murdoch and who protect only the very rich and powerful right wingers down under, are reluctant and prohibited from diligently pursuing and exposing what this writer feels bound to !
I recommend people to check an author called Glen McNamara, a former 15 year detective with the NSW police force and responsible for smashing a very sleazy bunch of criminal cops here are his books: Some cops tried to get him whacked after he exposed them ! Titled:
"Dirty Business and "Savage Obsessions "
Now look at some of the other stuff I dug up about the NSW cops and even some of the AFP (federal ones...used to be the commonwealth police when I was a young reporter there)
The 1979 Williams royal commission into drugs led to the abolition of the
Narcotics Bureau and the formation of the federal police. Most of the narcotics
agents, including Standen, were redeployed to the AFP. The Williams report
remains secret.
After Standen's arrest, a former AFP internal investigator, Ray Cooper, said the
federal body had suffered from a culture of cover-up and was rife with
corruption. But, despite decades of allegations, it seems beyond public criticism
and scrutiny.
One of Standen's former fellow officers claims to know colleagues were involved
in drug deals. ''We didn't know who you could trust. You were looking over your
shoulders all the time,'' the colleague said, suggesting while some were caught,
many still worked in law enforcement.
There were investigations into Standen and rumours about his integrity, sources
say, even before a 1980 incident in which he said he flushed 18 foils of hash down
a toilet. His colleagues in that incident, Stephen Innsley and Frank Ramaccia,
both came to notice again later. Ramaccia joined the NSW Police and was
investigated by the Integrity Com
The police prosecution arrested suspects are incarcerated for up to 2 years...that is punishment before trial...in horrendous places like Silverwater and Long Bay prisons. There are often innocent folk among them whose ONLY crime is not affording decent defense! Weaker prisoners are regularly raped, beaten and sometimes murdered, it's all on the web for confirmation! There are NO statutes of limitations in NSW or other Australian States even for trivial matters ! Australia is NOT signatory to most human rights treaties!
Ryan's tenure began in hope, with his recruitment from England to take over a
police force riddled with corruption praised by those who knew that someone
from outside the culture was needed to do the job properly. He talked of a new
police service in which benefits would have to be earned, and the need to recruit
university graduates. The commissioner also introduced random drug and alcohol
tests. But Ryan's implementations of the Wood Royal Commission did not stop
police corruption, as the results of Operation Florida, heard by the Police
Integrity Commission last year, confirmed. The PIC heard that detectives from
Manly police station protected drug dealers for a price and stockpiled confiscated weapons.
A Police Integrity Commission (PIC) audit finds that internal police
investigations are "biased", pursued with less vigour than criminal investigations,
and that more than a quarter of internal inquiries into complaints against police
were "unsatisfactory": only 7% included checks on an officer's history of
complaints; juniors investigated seniors and officers often investigated colleagues
working in the same area. The PIC criticised decisions not to investigate 43.5% of
complaints as "unreasonable" where the offences involved were stealing,
corruption, drinking and drug use.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that a quarter of NSW's police
patrols are officially without leaders. The Police Service advertises for 18 loca
area commanders and 960 vacant sergeants positions. The Police Service says the
vacancies are due to "retirements, promotions and other changed
cumstances".
An undercover Internal Affairs (IA)detective investigating crooked
police in drug trafficking and gang warfare is arrested and charged with firearm
and drugs offence
And these cops attend and lecture at the FBI academy, belong to interpol and
have access to Worldwide police intelligence.....which can be shared with the
WRONG types ! Shame on the State and federal attorney generals who have
the ultimate powers over the cops! They must all be part of the corruption ! And I
have only SCRATCHED the surface Australian media for protecting these
morons rather than properly pursuing and exposing them ! equal shame on the
racism inside NSW and Australian police forces and politics which is well knownby ethnics and immigrants and is RAMPANT ! IN A PROUDLY,
GOVERNMENT PROCLAIMED, PROMOTED AND LAUDED MULTI-
CULTURAL SOCIETY !
Sydney and Australia is somewhere I would avoid entrusting your family to visit, invest or immigrate to ! Gimme a break !
So there you have it folks...Kangaroos, Koalas and crocs aside.....I hope I have
enlightened you about Australia's largest police force......you can decide about
NSW cops for yourself now......whatever they stand for it certainly is NOT to
" Protect and serve the people "
