This iReport is part of an assignment:
The war through your eyes: Iraq 10 years on |
03-04 Iraq
I served in a detached MP Company ( from Hartford CT ) then attached to the 4-1 FA Battalion in Baghdad Iraq from 03-04.
Our day to day was patrolling the streets of Baghdad's Westside district from the Green Zone to BIAP ( East-West ) and from Washash to Dora ( North-South).
My platoon was attacked on a weekly basis by small arms fire and land mines. Luckily no one in my plt was killed.
We would also coordinate raids every week on suspected insurgent locations. Half of those were with US Army Special Forces. Great group of guys to work with.
I often wonder about friends we've left behind, and if they are still alive. I know many of them are not. I hope the war was not in vain.
