    Lucky Charms and Dragon Dancing

As early as the day before new year's eve, Chinatown along the streets of Ongpin Sta. Cruz Manila was already busy doing business. People are selling lucky charms which are selling like hot cakes as well as food believed to bring luck in the coming year of the snake. These items were being peddled in assembled tables and ambulant carts positioned along the sidewalks. Tikoy, a gelatinous rice cake was the most popular. The streets are crowded by onlookers, vendors and performers of dragon dance which set the celebration in festive mood. People flock to Chinatown to buy lucky charms and partake what the year of the snake will bring in 2013.
