Sound-off |
Ban Alcohol, R-rated films, & Pornography!
There are MILLIONS of domestic assaults reported every year. There are hundreds of thousands of rapes reported every year. There are thousands more that are never reported. There are millions of divorces every year. How many children fear their parent’s wrath every night?!
My question is this. How many of the above are fueled by alcohol? How many are influenced by violence in the media? How many homes are ripped apart by pornography?
I don’t drink alcohol, watch R-rated films, or look at pornography. Yet I am not out there demanding that these things be outlawed. I am not out there saying that people should only be able to drink a watered-down beer and not hard liquor, because why does anyone need hard liquor? The only reason I see is to get drunk faster so they can start beating on some helpless person! Or maybe it’s because they like the taste, the feeling, or some other reason that I, as a non-drinker, don’t know about.
So why don’t we ban all the things above. The assaults, rapes, deaths, and torn apart families far outweigh the “good” that these things bring.
If you want to come after my guns because they are “dangerous” then please take a look at the other things in our society that are significantly more dangerous and ban them first. Or understand that we as Americans have the right to choose how to live our lives.
I’m not coming after your right to drink or look at smut. So don’t come after my right to protect my family from the drunken, violence filled, depraved person that you are.
