About Pope Benedict XVI's Impending Resignation

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Filipino iReporter Sergiom says the decision of Pope Benedict XVI to resign, as announced by the Vatican on Monday, should prompt wider debate about how long pontiffs should serve. "I believe that a pope should have a term limit or be given the privilege to resign from office, if he can't do his various duties effectively anymore due to health reasons or old age," he said.
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

I think Pope Benedict XVI's impending resignation might lead to a  debate within the Roman Catholic Church on how long should a pope serve  as minister of God. Catholic thinkers and clergy people might debate  about giving a term-limit to a pope or allowing the pope when to retire  as minister. A pope has many responsibilities and duties that would  require good health and physical stamina. I believe that a pope should  have a term-limit or be given the privilege to resign from office if he  can't do his various duties effectively anymore due to health reasons or  old age. It's only practical to give future popes either term-limits or  the privilege to resign from office because papal duties require good  health and outstanding stamina. In fact, I believe that archbishops from  all religious groups should be given term-limits and the privilege to  resign from office if they're not that physically or mentally strong  anymore to fulfill their respective duties.
