Catholics: Your views on new pope

    Opportunity for Change

Benedict XVI is extremely intelligent and a learned theolgogian. And now he is courageous. He understands the necessity for the Church to change but acknowleges that he does not have the energy and strength to move it forward. For example: the song sung in Catholic Churches every Sunday includes the words: "One bread, one body ... Woman or man no more." It is now time to practice these words. Everyone is equal, including women. If they feel called to the "priesthood" -- it is depriving the People of God to deny them this service. It should no longer be a "white male Church". The new Pope must look at all issues, including this one. However, the College of Cardinals is made up of mostly this demographic. Hopefully, the Holy Spirit will inspire them to elect another John XXIII who so courageously moved the Church out of the middle ages in the 1960's. Time for another move into the 21st Century.
