    War crimes trial should be accountable: Mozena

    American ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena in a press briefing on Tuesday said the trial (on international crèmes) should be fair and accountable based on international standard. He emphasised the need of dialogue between the government and the opposition in holding a free, fair and accountable next general election in the country. ‘We believe in discussion, we believe dialogue’, he added.
    Mr Mozena termed the mass movement of Shahbagh as democratic movement. The US ambassador told the journalists at the brief held at American Corner at Jessore Public Library on Tuesday that America wants trial of those who committed international crimes during the war of liberation. ‘Basic democratic right should be uphold’, he added in this regard.
    The ambassador briefed the journalists about his two-day Jessore –Satkhira tour in the morning. He was accompanied by his wife and Richard Green, mission director, USAID.
    Mozena described his Jessore- Satkhira visit as wonderful. ‘I watched same magic everywhere in Bangladesh’, he added.
    ‘Bangladesh should be, could be the next Asian tiger’, Mozena said.
    He informed the journalists that USAID spent 50 million dollar in the field of food security in Bangladesh in 2012.
    ‘Bangladesh should export flower in future’, he added
    Mozena praised Bangladeshis for their initiatives in protecting trafficking in human and their hard work in flower farming, fish production, and agriculture and so on.
    US ambassador on Monday visited Gadkhali flower farms, Benapole land port and various fish projects and tiles factories in Satkhira.
