AGIP OIL AND A LAW MAKER FINGERED IN GUN RUNNING SCANDAL IN AVIARA COMMUNITY,DELTA STATE NIGERIA
Fresh facts have emerged over the reasons behind the battle for the sit of the Regent of Aviara Clan.
Aviara Flash gathered from sources within the palace that Agip oil one of the international oil explorers in Delta state are funding unscrupulous elements including Hon. Johnson Erijo who is currently the law maker representing Isoko south II constituency in the Delta state house of assembly.
You will recall that various online media including Sahara reporters carried the news sometime last year about same law maker in gun running scandal. Read http://saharareporters.com/news-page/delta-lawmaker-police-trouble-gun-running
Sources close to the Ovie-in-Council confirm to us that the law maker along with his accomplices were actually fined the sum of =N=50,000.00 naira each for gun running operations which led to the killing of a number of youths of the community during the 2007 elections.
We also confirm from sources close to the palace that Agip is basically financing the gun running operations of the law maker all in attempt to install persons who will be loyal to Agip oil operations and the law maker.
It is so surprising that recently, parties and elders who are illegally benefiting from the illegal operations of Agip oil and the law maker's camp claimed that the community does not have a written constitution by which they are governed. Unknown to them, we have been able to obtain a copy of the constitution of the community as signed by the former Ovie of the community, H.R.H. Emaviwe1, the Ovie of Aviara kingdom.A copy of the constitution has been uploaded.
According to the constitution of the community, section 12, page 12 , it is stated that "on the demise of the Ovie, the eldest son shall act as Regent for a period of three years interregnum"7
In an attempt to take over the palace, the law maker's camp financed by Agip oil came out to say there is no such law in the constitution and even as a matter of fact claimed there is no written constitution for the community. Again, we ask the question. If there is no written constitution of the community, how is the community being governed? We leave that to the state high court sitting in Asaba to decide.
Also worrisome is the activities of Agip oil which has virtually taken the position of king makers in the community through the support of the law maker at the expense of the lives of the youths of the community. As at the time of filing this report, we can confirm that the lifeless bodies of 20 youths in the community are lying in the morgue. These youths met there untimely death as a result of the do or die operations of Agip oil and the law maker.
The law maker was recently fined by the Ovie-in-council for illegal gun running in the community. Youths of the community are given guns to cause trouble in the community so as for the law maker and Agip oil to have their ways in their nefarious activities.
It is a shame that the oil wealth which was supposed to be a blessing to the community and its people is about to become a force of disunity amongst the once peaceful community.
The Niger delta region of Nigeria is blessed with enormous oil wealth but the international oil exploration companies are making so much money at the expense of the lives of the people living in the communities where this oil come from. And the Nigerian government does nothing about this because they are illegally benefiting peanuts from the same oil exploration companies.
In the coming days, we shall keep the public informed of the activities of this law maker and the illegal operations of Agip Oil in this oil rich community of Delta state. We also promise to expose the role of the law maker, his Aviara PDP political big wig and business mogul as it concerns Aviara community. Enough is enough for this oil exploration companies making billions of dollars at the expense of innocent lives.
