    Ash Wednesday

    I just received ashes on my forehead on the first day of Lent called Ash Wednesday.  The ashes are made from the palm leaves from last year's Palm Sunday celebrations.  Lent is the 40 days before Easter for many Christians, marked by fasting, prayer, and many give up one item of food during the time.  I am trying to lose weight, so I plan to keep to a healthy diet.  The photo was taken at the Church of St.Mary in Willmar, Minn.
