    Disappointed by Cruise Triumph


    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     mariazaheer shot this photo of her television as she was watching CNN coverage. Over the past week she told me, 'I have been thinking of miserable things, it might rain and ship gets flooded, my family might get sick of disgusting condition onboard, my brother might lose his job.' Her brother Tony on board told me, 'I've got solid human waste in my balcony, sewage in my room so we had to sprinkle laundry detergent to get the smell out. If I close the door it gets really smelly in here. The toilets mostly don't work.' According to Carnival, they will 'give each passenger $500, a free flight home, a full refund for their trip and for most expenses on board, as well as a credit for another cruise.'

    Thanks to CNN I am in touch with true updates on Cruise Triumph, on which I have family members onboard. Live coverage really brought tears to my eyes...Thanks CNN.


    After so many days we finally get to hear from our loved ones, it feels really good but a bit disappointing as well. We feel betrayed, because I have made hundreds of calls to Carnival family assistance line, and they have been passing on false information regarding passengers and their conditions.
    They are barely eating due to restroom conditions, my brother who I am so glad and happy to hear from; He told me that they have been relieving themselves in buckets and hazardous red bags. They are so disgust as they see waste flowing in their balcony. My brother has seen two people having heart attack in front of him and another person stopped breathing. Don’t know their current conditions, but after seeing all this who would want to enjoy meal; which by the way no meal is provided to everyone. They are making people stand in queues while people in the front finishing up all the food.
    This is very disappointing, I feel like I wasted my time calling the family assistance line as instead of providing us with the right information they lied and provided family members with wrongful information. Passengers are not having fun, even the 3 night enjoyment seems miserable to them now. There should have been proper management and systemized procedures in place for restroom and meal services.
    As we were told many restrooms are working and open to passengers, I have been told different story from family onboard. We are praying and hoping for all those passengers and crew members to reach their destination safely and even after that they stay good health wise.
    Really missing our loved ones (my brother Tony, sister-in-law Umme and Nephew Muzzammil) on Valentine's Day..Very disappointed!!
