Dr. Waheed’s forces brutally cracks down on peaceful protesters of Maldivian Democratic Party which is the largest party in the Maldives. It is the largest gathering so far in support of President Mohamed Nasheed who is a refugee in his own country. One of the protesters a girl has been beaten so severely tonight that she is in ADK Hospital in a critical condition. These protests started after President Nasheed took refuge in the Indian High Commission here in the capital of Maldives, Male’. Waheed and his allies want Mr. Nasheed to be imprisoned for life so that he cannot contest in the election. They know too well that they cannot beat him in a free and fare election. Waheed’s Home Minister before coming to power said that they will keep Mr. Nasheed behind bars for life. Nasheed took refuge as he knows that they want to eliminate him in anyway. While Nasheed was in power some opposition leaders wanted to kill him with the help of some security officers in a mysterious way. The chief intelligent officer has testified this to a Parliament Commity.
