Catholics: Your views on new pope

    Plea Deal Requires Resignation

The decision to "retire" is likely more than just a "tired old pope".

Recent revelations from the files of Cardinal Mahoney from Los Angeles reveal he worked much harder to have certain priests removed from the clergy. The problem he had was the reluctance and opposition he encounter from the Vatican office responsible for such investigations and disciplinary actions. Cardinal Mahoney made a trip to the Phillipines to advocate with the new surpervisor Bishop for removal of a priest that had been transferred from the Los Angeles Arch-Diocese. People have complained that Cardinal Mahoney did not do enough. The files may reveal that he did all that he could do without the cooperation of Vatican officials.

The person in office during the height of the problems was a Cardinal named Ratzinger.

International sources suggest that an investigation has been underway with results about to be made public. The results would implicate Cardinal Josef Ratzinger in a conspiracy to cover up the crimes of those priests.

There are rumors that the Pope was about to be questioned about the actions (or inactions) of his office during these times. It has strongly been suggested that he will be granted immunity in return for cooperation and testimony against others in the conspiracy.
