Housewife Looking For A “GOOD ROMANCE” Accepts Challenge From A Friend
“First Class to New York” was published on Amazon/Kindle November 17, 2012 by first-time romance author AJ Harmon and arrived to passionate reviews from readers, surprising and encouraging this fresh edgy adult contemporary romance novelist.
“It’s an interesting story,” AJ began. “After reading the ‘50 Shades of Grey’ series with some of my girlfriends, a kind of unofficial book club, I made the statement, “I was unimpressed by the series and could probably write better books in my sleep,” to which my friend replied, ‘Prove it. I bet you can’t.’ So I accepted her challenge and wrote a book. 3 books actually, with 3 more in the works.
“I was flabbergasted when I saw that we had over 11,000 downloads after our first weekend of promoting it on Kindle. What was even more exciting, was the 4 and 5 Star reviews posted from all around the world.” Harmon continued, “Most of the readers really loved it and bonded with Janie, the leading lady of the story.”
o “I loved this story so much. I liked reading that Janie finds someone special….” by ljk50 "litersk" (Michigan) Amazon USA
o Excellent, what more can I say?!! I loved this book….” by CJ (UK) Amazon UK

When asked why she thought the book was received with such enthusiasm, Harmon replied, “I love a good romance and I’m always looking for a great love story. I’ve read hundreds of them, from the classics to the most contemporary, and I made sure my book had all the things I want in a good romance novel; a 3-dimensional woman with real struggles and hidden strengths, a knight in shining armor and some hot, passionate sex.”
Asked if she’d won the bet, “I’ll let the readers be the judge of that. I know I’ll never bash another author again. It takes countless hours of hard work to write, edit and publish a book and I respect anyone who has gone to that much effort to share a story with us.” Fighting back a smirk, Harmon continued, “I will say this, out of 5 stars my book has a 4.1 rating on Good Reads, a 4.2 on Amazon USA and a 4.3 on Amazon UK, compared ‘50 Shades of Grey’ with a 3.6 and a 3.3. Most importantly, my girlfriends took me to dinner and a Mani/Pedi and didn’t invite E.L. James.”
“It’s just a silly romance novel, but it has changed my life forever. I’ve found a hidden talent and a real desire to help other women discover themselves when they curl up Kindle on the couch and try to hide from the dishes, the laundry and the credit card bills for a while in a sexy love story.” AJ smiled, “I’m not trying to create great works of art or the next literary classic. Not everyone is going to love my books, but if can get a tear, a deep sigh or a huge smile from a reader looking for an escape from the day to day, I’ve done my job.”
Harmon has plans for 6 books in the ‘First Class’ Series. Three are available now on Amazon/Kindle in paperback or digital download. She has published 3 books in 3 months and is hoping to release the fourth in March. If you’d like to learn more about her books you can visit her website at FirstClassNovels.com.
