When I decided I was an atheist
I grew up in a religious household but I always believed the stories told in Sunday school were equally astounding and unbelievable as the story of Santa Claus.
I never really "took hold" of religion although when i was a child, if anyone asked, I would probably have told them I was a Christian.
When entered the ninth grade, I heard a radio talk show talking about atheism and realized that I was an atheist.
That was 40 years ago. I am still an atheist today and wouldn't change a thing. I think that is more likely that Santa Claus exists than God exists, yet we dismiss Santa Claus so easily. At least Santa is from somewhere we can actually visit (the North Pole) and why he does things is not a mystery.
I am so glad I heard that radio talk show.
