    Year of the Snake Celebration-NYC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     RVCFOTO loved the colorful painted faces and the scene of children chasing the Chinese dragon at the Chinese New Year parade in Manhattan yesterday. 'I think it's a traditional thing to try to touch the dragon and the lion as good luck. The kids got a big kick out of that,' she said. The annual Chinese New Year Parade took place on Sunday Feb 17 in Manhattan’s Chinatown. Tens of thousands of revelers lined the streets to welcome the Year of the Snake. The parade started at 1PM on Mott Street and ended around 3pm with an outdoor cultural festival at the Sara D. Roosevelt Park featuring more musical performances and dancers.

NYC comptroller John Liu, Public advocate Bill de Blasio and NY Senator Chuck Schumer were some of the elected official who took part in the festivities.
