"Year of the Snake: Chinese New Year 2013"

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     donnaclare was at the Chinese New Year parade in Los Angeles this weekend. She said she loved the many colors – 'colors of confetti, clothing, the floats and the colorful faces of people in the parade and in the audience.' See more photos of the parade from a panoramic perspective or check out some snapshots from the celebrations in New York.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

It was an unseasonably warm 80-degree day in Los Angeles as the Chinese New Year kicked off in Chinatown. But even under the sweltering conditions there was no shortage of dragons and festivities. There was a lot of music and confetti in the air, as well as sounds of happy children and even adults.
