Nancy’s Radar |
Hit-and-Run
Amy Breaux was my mother. I am 22 years old and my younger sister is 20. When the accident happened, I had moved to Houston, Texas with my mom's brother and his wife the day before to attend college and was getting settled in. My grandparents, my mom's parents, had come help me move since my mother was unable to get off of work. We got the call at 2:30 a.m. that an accident involving my mom had happend. Immediately we packed up and drove the 4 hour drive to the hospital where my mom was taken. My mom went through 2 brain surgeries, but the damage was too much to handle. On August 28th, my sister and I had to make the biggest decision of our life: to let our mom become a "vegetable" or relieve her of her pain. We decided to let her have her peace because we knew that is what she would have wanted. It has been 6 months and we have yet to find out who took our mom away from us. The main thing we want to know is why. What happened that my mom had to have her life taken away? All we want is answers. Since the accident, our family has not been the same, although it has opened our eyes to see that life is too precious to be taken for granted.
The Gueydan Duck Festival Association and the Gueydan community have built up a reward fund for anyone that has any information on who is held accountable for this tragedy. There is no definite amount of the reward, due to the fact that it is increasing. Louisiana State Police are still investigating and are accepting any information you might have to help solve this Hit-and-Run.
