    Self-portrait, at the volcano

10 minute exposure delay. At the volcano. Which one? Who cares. Time just enough to scale down the lava cliff and get to the black sand about 100 years from the flow in the day time. At night, it is too dangerous to be on the flow as you will step in lava and die.
Volcanic gas settles in valleys and if you walk into one, you will not walk out. This was about 10 miles over incredible terrain beyond parking. No one else was there at 6 a.m.. I started my trip that day at 3 a.m.
Back again in April. There is nothing like it on earth unless you are close to a lover. That's how I feel when I am there.
