    New Orleans, Post-Mardi Gras 2013

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     rsteeg lives a couple miles from this tree covered in Mardi Gras beads in New Orleans. He said the beads will stay up on the tree year round. 'After the parades, people often hang beads on fences, or wrap them around light poles, or throw them into the trees. During the parade, some beads get stuck in the trees naturally – errant throws from the floats get caught in the branches. ... This tree is a smaller, more accessible one, so some enthusiastic revelers just covered it in beads. It is just one of many, but it seemed particularly laden,' he said.
