Sound-off |
“The politics of Selling faith and the disarrays”
But the ruthless actions have not yet stopped rather it has developed with the silent acquiescence of people to such an extent that it can be called a “global malady” and no single panacea has been discovered till today. Consequently eventually this malady has dispersed widely into the entire society. And like abortion this business of selling faith has been legalised in many countries around the world!!!!
When it comes to politics this business has been instrumental in forming and developing new political parties which even led them to governing chairs. They have used religion as a ploy to buy voters and votes using their faiths and religious sentiments. These political parties have misguided the people from the very formation of their party, its constitution and last but not the least their electoral manifesto maintaining false belief that they too carry the same ethical standards when in reality all they care about is their monetary gain. To manoeuvre the system they have penetrated into all sections of society in a way which makes it difficult to uproot them overnight even when they are in the opposition. You will find their supporters in police force, armies, secretaries, judges etc. It shows why the disciplinary forces of Bangladesh have been questioned on various occasions about their role in controlling the jamat-shibir terrorists.
But the menace of this business is not only the growing numbers of blind supporters around the globe rather more dangerous which is the formation and development of extremism. No matter which religion it is based on it brings no good news for the community at large, conversely it creates chaos and religious clashes just like what happened in Myanmar recently. The different terrorist organisations based on Islam and Hinduism have taken many innocent lives. The destructing activities of Shia and Sunni might have surpassed all clashes. Hence who are they benefitting? Is it their own religion or the people of their faith?? For if this has been the case the Muslims would not have to be discriminated just because he has long beard!!! Even the Muslim countries formulate their foreign policies showing middle finger to bearded-Muslims.
I cannot wait any longer to write something about the ongoing Youth Movement of Bangladesh against the so-called Islamists War criminals. Jamat Islami of Bangladesh is an ideal example of the faith selling business and politics I was talking about. They have always misled the Bangladeshis using their religious sentiments. They say “A country cannot prosper under the governance of a woman” when they themselves entered into a coalition with as party led by a Woman. Initially they incorporated “God’s supremacy” into their constitution over and above all and when the Election commission contended they said they are ready to change it to “People’s Supremacy”. My question is who do they fear?? Is this the Election commission or God???
It is alleged that they have murdered a blogger activists of the Youth Movement who was a non-believer. Again they have chosen a non-0beleiver over a believer so that it can buy people’s emotions!!!
Continuing on the issue of the politics of selling faith I am not going go into a detailed discussion, I will only give few examples and will leave the rest for the readers to think about!!!
1. The Western invasion of the Muslim countries (like Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan) and their economic gain afterwards.
2. The infamous extremism of Shia and Sunni.
3. The formation of the Islamists terrorism organisations like Al-Qaida, HAMAS, Hizballah, Harakat ul-Mujahidin, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba etc and rise and fall of Osama Bin Laden, Mollah Omar.
The consequence of all this has been nothing more than this--- Islam which means “Peace” has been misapprehended by many as a religion of terrorism. The misconception has gone to such an extent that if you type the word “misconception” in Google it shows its first suggestion as “misconceptions about Islam”. Is it a desirable consequence???
