Your T-shirt tales |
Made in Africa
Five years ago my friends and I decided to embark on a South African cross country road trip. I had always wanted to better explore my country, especially since it is such a beautiful and diverse country!
We started from Johannesburg (my ‘home town’) and travelled down to Durban then along the coast to Coffee Bay,Port Elizabeth, Addo Elephant Sanctuary, Plettenberg Bay, Grahamstown, Hermanus, Knysna and then finally to Cape Town.
The trip took two weeks and was amazing. Loved every minute of it and we did everything from drumming to whale watching! (South Africa isn’t called the world in one country for nothing!)
I bought the shirt from an artist who designed and made shirts from his little Xhosa hut near Coffee Bay, Eastern Cape. The shirt is simple (and by now I’m sure a bit travel worn) but sums up both myself and my trip. Over the years the shirt has become my traveling shirt and has been everywhere from Australia to Thailand. It is definitely my favourite shirt.
