    London, UK: London's Grosvenor House Hotel hosted the launch of a presidential foundation to support Education, Health, Youth Empowerment and in Africa. The Olusegun Obasanjo foundation was set up by African statesman, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria. It is the first of its kind by any African leader. The Gala dinner attracted many African presidents and leaders in Industry, Education, Commerce and Politics.

    The stated mission of the Foundation is "to promote the advancement of human security for the most disadvantaged in Africa" The initiatives of the Foundation include Feeding, Youth Empowerment, Education for Girls, and the Health initiative for non-communicable and water borne diseases.

    The Presidential panel consisted of the current leaders of Ghana (President John Mahama); Nigeria (President Goodluck Jonathan); Benin (President Yayi Boni); and Liberia (President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf) who debate issues of governance ended with a clear priority for youth education.



    Speaking shortly after the dinner, Intellectual icon and Education pioneer, Chris Imafidon said that "it is gratifying to hear the focus on education particularly the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects to girls" Chris Imafidon who serves on the board of the ExcellenceinEducation (excellenceineducation.org.uk) programme saluted the foundations for its proposed innovative approach.
