    Gas Prices on Tinian

Tinian Island is part of the U.S.Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Our gas prices have gone up again. Soon the prices of basic necessities will also rise. We limit are travel to only what we really need, such as travel to work and school, grocery shopping, medical appointments.

We also have to pay for power. We pay for the amount of power that we consume and we also pay for a Levelized Energy Adjustment Clause (LEAC). Which technically it means a fuel charge. My recent power bill was $158. Please keep in mind that I don't have an air conditioner, water heater, washing machine. I have disconnected my dryer, electric range/oven. I have changed all of my lights to fluorescent lights. I'm also using portable gas stoves and electric fans for cooking and to keep our home cool.

It been tough but we are hanging in there. I just miss the days of pay for 2.50 a gallon.
