    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     "It was a little hectic when I pulled up," said kvanemburgh. "Police lines where set up at least two blocks around the scene. People were being evacuated in the neighborhood, but it seemed to me that most were already either gone or outside of their house as the gas smell was so strong that it could make you nauseous. Firefighters and police were scrambling to shut the gas off."

    The fire erupted earlier this evening down the street from my house. It was a gas explosion and when I went down there several hours after the fire had been going, there was still an extremely strong odor. They are attempting to evacuate the neighborhood but with little success.
