T-Shirt Represents Kid Authors' Journey
Josh (13) & Harrison (11) Herz are co-authors of the popular and stunningly illustrated kid's fantasy book Nimpentoad (nimpentoad.com). The book has earned 79 Amazon 5-star ratings to date.
The clever little Nimpentoad leads his fellow Niblings through the perilous Grunwald Forest, overcoming obstacles and encountering strange creatures along the way. Parents appreciate a story that discourages bullying, and emphasizes teamwork, creativity, perseverance, and leadership.
Josh & Harrison are shown here proudly wearing their Nimpentoad t-shirts with a giant Babo at the San Diego Comic Convention.
The t-shirts represent the long journey the young authors have taken, from helping to write the book, providing art direction, and promoting the book. Josh & Harrison have done book readings and signings at San Diego elementary schools, libraries, YMCA, The New Children's Museum, and bookstores such as Warwick's, Mysterious Galaxy Books, and Barnes & Noble.
Josh & Harrison have been featured in articles on CNN Geekdad, Young Entrepreneur, and the Lord of the Rings fansite TheOneRing.net. The book's art was a semi-finalist in an art contest judged by Hobbit movie art directors Richard Taylor, Alan Lee, and John Howe.
The t-shirts also remind the boys of all the accomplished authors and illustrators who've enjoyed the books and/or meeting the precocious writers, including David Brin (Uplift trilogy), Saladin Ahmed (Throne of the Crescent Moon), Chris Ryall (IDW Publishing), Ron Noble (Rugrats cartoon), Stephen Silver (Kim Possible cartoon), Grant Gould (Star Wars cartoon), David Peterson (Mouse Guard), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Richard Taylor (Weta director), and Kristian Nairn (Hodor from HBO's Game of Thrones).
The young authors are working on their second book, and very much appreciate all the support they've received in this journey that has taught them not just about writing, but about public speaking, entrepreneurship, and promoting reading.
