Warm, velvety and smooth, chocolate soup is a soul food that gives pleasure to the palate as well as the heart. For a rich chocolaty flavor, choose a high quality dark chocolate. Don’t compromise when it comes to the chocolate since most of the flavor will depend upon the quality of this one ingredient. The most important consideration when it comes to making perfect chocolate soup is getting the right consistency. You don’t want graininess of lumps; you want something smooth, velvety, and luxurious.
You also don’t want to scramble the eggs. The hot chocolate is poured over the yolks gently so that they cook in the chocolate and create an unbelievably good sensation in the mouth and taste fantastic. The milk makes the chocolate creamier and smoother, and the cream is used to top the soup. You can also serve the chocolate soup with breadcrumbs on top or with crusty bread on the size. Crackers, biscuits, or plain cookies also make a delicious accompaniment to chocolate soup. For a lighter garnish, use sprigs of mint or basil leaves to give the chocolate soup a refreshing touch. You can also garnish it with orange or lemon zest for a beautiful and aromatic contrast.
