He Just Doesn't Fight For His Country!

Hey Robin, my name is Melissa Lashua my husband Cpl. Matthew Lashua needs to be recognized. He is such an amazing man!!! Even though he puts his job as a U.S. Marine first he never forgets about his family. on March 23, 2012 we had a tragic day in our home. We just had our first child he was 4 months old, my husband was about to get deployed in a few months and I couldn't be more stressed or so I thought. I went to the spa while my husband watched our son and finished up supper. Matthew lifted the lid to the pot, it blew up in flames and started a grease fire. He grabbed the pot and as he was walking to take it out the back door it slipped and spilled all over his legs. It started melting and burning the house. While the hot oil was running down his legs and burning them, he ran, grabbed our child and took him to the next door neighbors. He called 911 then me quickly and went back into the house grabbed the pot that was on fire and took it out the back door. I got home to fireman, EMS, and police man everywhere. My husband was gone and my child with the neighbors. I walked into my house it was full of smoke, the floor was melted, and the walls and ceiling were gray. He had burned his legs to his muscles with 3rd degree burns. He had to have surgery and relearn how to walk and run. He just doesn't dedicate and fight for his country but also for his family and what we are able to have because of what he does. Matthew, your son and I love you, thank you for everything, you are my best friend, and a true hero!
