    Amazing Sand Dunes

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     While visiting Namibia in 2010, Jillzy captured over 50 photos of sand dunes, but says this one is her favorite. "I thought Namibia was fabulous. It is relatively undiscovered, a sparsely populated country with a wide variety of amazing scenery," she says. "I would love to visit again." Her image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for April 10, 2013.

When I visited Namibia I took an early morning drive in Sossusvlei to see the magnificent, orange sand dunes, said to be the highest in the world. The color comes from oxidation and is most striking as the morning sun reflects off the surfaces sculpted by the winds. This dune has a climbing path, and one can see the tiny figures of those who hiked up to the top.
