    Hanging Out At The Sawyer Glacier

    This sea lion was lazily hanging out one morning at the Sawyer Glacier at the end of the Tracy Arm Fjord, which is about 40 miles south of Juneau, Alaska. We were on the Captain Cook, a 65-foot trawler operated by Adventure Bound Alaska. The captain, Steve Weber, took the boat as close as he could get to the glacier and turned off the motor, so we could hear it creak and groan. The sea lion was one of hundreds on the sea ice near the glacier because their main predator, killer whales, wouldn't come that close to shore.
