    Power is with the people

I am happy to report that our efforts to keep the frac sand mine out of Augusta, WI was successful on February 21, 2013. The Town Of Bridge Creek town board met with the mine owners and their attorney with 100 citizens looking on. After discussion the board voted 5-0 to deny Five Star Telecom a permit to mine frac sand on state Hwy 27 five miles north of Augusta. The efforts of many citizens at the public hearing held on February 18 convinced the town board that the safety, welfare, and well being of the citizens of Bridge Creek and Augusta were at stake. The company plans to appeal but we will continue to fight the good fight and protect our air, our water, and our children's heritage. We owe the Bridge Creek Town Board a huge thank you for listening to our concerns and taking action.
