Magical Sky Lanterns
February 24, 2013; In connection with the Yuan Xiao Festival, ending the Chinese New Year season, the New Taipei City government organized the annual Sky Lantern Festival in Pingxi, New Taipei City. The even was attended by thousands of people from different parts of Taiwan as well as other nationalities and expats. The event started around 18:00 (6:00PM, CST) with programs and series of release of sky lanterns. The Yuan Xiao Festival marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebration as the first full moon of the Chinese Lunar calendar appears in the sky. The event is conducted yearly, 15 days after the day 1 of the Chinese New Year.
