Snowstorm Rocky weighs heavy on the Elm Trees lining the streets of Lawrence Kansas
Lawrence Kansas has for decades been known for the Elm trees that line the streets. Many died of Dutch Elm disease, but the one's that remain are potentially deadly today. A woman was walking down the sidewalk where trees are hanging heavy with snow. After she saw the damage to a car in our driveway from the top of a tall elm tree falling, she moved to the street, where hardly a car has passed. City offices are not answering their phones, or are inundated with calls, so that we cannot get through.
This is a very dangerous situation. People are advised not to walk down these tree-lined streets. Though it's beautiful outside, the risk is too great. Just look at the pictures and you'll see what can occur at any point along the sidewalks and streets.
If you have damage, as we do, i advise that you don't move anything, so that insurance companies have a chance to take photos, or i recommend that you take plenty of photos before moving anything....the first advice is strongly recommended!
