    Ancient Iran

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Tennessee resident yazdanimhn was stunned during a road trip in Iran in 2010 to stumble upon an ancient village called Maymand where people still lived in cave dwellings built thousands of years before. As an American travelling through a country so often at odds with the U.S., she said it was gratifying to have such a warm welcome from locals. "I think Americans should see the real side of Iran -- not the political side," she said. Her first photo was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for April 17, 2013.

While visiting my husbands family they decieded to take us on a road trip to see more of the country. On our way from Kerman Iran to Shiraz we stopped at Maymand. An ancient cave dwellings still inhabited by villagers. This city has been in existance for over 3000 years. We were able to speak to the villages and enjoy their company. we also purchased to local food and crafts. I especially enjoy the picture of the computer and refrigerator in a cave dwelling. This is really a primitive and modern mix of decor.
