85th Academy Awards Show Oscars
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
I had no idea who Seth McFarlane was, but he's adorable and quite funny. I enjoyed him immensely as host.
One of my favorite presenters, Kerry Washington, wore a beautiful flowing red dress with a large band of sequins on top. I felt bad for 22 yr. old Jennifer Lawrence when she tripped on the stairs going up to accept her Best Actress award. She made a quick joke about everyone standing in ovation only because she tripped.
I'm happy Argo won Best Picture, mostly happy for Ben Affleck since he was snubbed for Best Director. Steven Speilberg, in my opinion, should have more than two Oscars under his belt, I think he's the best of the best.
I loved Daniel Day Lewis' acceptance speech for Best Actor. He was humble and tongue tied at the same time.
Quentin Tarantino won for Best Screenplay, Django Unchained, his acceptance speech seemed a bit arrogant to me. He said this was the year of the writers and basically thanked himself for creating great characters.
Kristen Stewart came out limping and her hair was a mess. This made me wonder if she had fallen down some stairs on her way to the stage, she looked like she didn't feel very well and didn't seem to want to be there. Nothing was mentioned about her limp or look.
Adele sang the theme song from Skyfall. Barbra Streisand sang The Way We Were as a tribute to Marvin Hamlisch, it was nice seeing Streisand again.
I really enjoyed this years Academy Awards show. The past few years had not been anything to brag about so kudos to whoever directed/produced this year.
Surprise of the night to me was Michelle Obama announcing the Best Picture winner. That was cool. I'm not sure why the military was present though.
