    Catholics: Your views on new pope

    More from Yavin

    What we can learn from the Catholic Faith

    I would regard the Pope's resignation as acceptable in that a mortal elderly good man in ill health should rest and allow another to take up the important position. I am not a Catholic, but I have many Catholic friends. There are certain things about Roman Catholism that I agree and respect:
    1.Their respect for order and social laws in the country;
    2.Firm position on abortion;
    3.Firm position on the benefits of the traditional family unit;
    4.Firm position on helping the poor and needy.

    Areas of Roman Catholism that I disagree:
    1. Extreme Veneration of past Popes and saints to the extent of breaching God's Commandment 2 - Thou Shalt not bow down before any idol.
    2. Veneration of the statute of Virgin Mary, which led many to regard her as more godly than Jesus.
    3. Lack of teaching and reading of the Bible by the mass followers. Only the Priests are regarded as people who could interpret the Word of God. This led to the lack of understanding of God's Laws for the world.

    Let's be fair here. The Pope is a respected person because he is regarded as being anointed by God to represent the priesthood of the Catholics. But we should bear in mind that the Word of God in Romans 3:10 says: "As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one." and that includes the Pope and myself also.

    So let God be God , and man be man. All else will fade away, but the Word of God abides forever.

    I wish all readers love and peace of God in their hearts and minds. Amen.

    Kind regards,
    Yavin
