Catholics: Your views on new pope

    More from FernieV

    Perhaps not easy to appreciate...

Catholics view the Church as a big Family, whose Head is Christ, and his visible Head is the Pope. And just like it is very difficult, if not impossible, to judge the state of affairs in the next-door neighbour, you being an outsider, it is very diffcult or impossible to pass judgement on Benedict XVI's pontificate if your source of information is the secular press (including my beloved CNN): you need to Live in the Church, be part of it and make an effort to follow the lead of the shepherds. CNN only sees pedophile priests and power-hungry clergy everywhere... But the Church is a different, spiritual reality.
