Kenya Railway - Graffiti for Peace in Kenya during the Elections

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Kenyan photographer TahirKarmali captured these colorful images of graffiti artwork on the sides of train carriages in Nairobi's train station. The artwork, done by such artists as Uhuru B and Swift9, was commissioned by Kibera Walls for Peace and Kibera Hamlets to promote the arts and foster peaceful relationships in Kibera, Nairobi's largest slum. The trains, and their artwork, pass through Kibera daily. As Kenya prepares for national elections, many are hoping to avoid a repeat of 2008's deadly violence. "The atmosphere is quiet, its feels like the silence before the storm," our iReporter says. "There have been people in the private sector saying that it will be fine, however there are many mixed views about it."
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

As an initiative to promote peace in Kenya, Graffiti Artist Uhuru B has painted the commuter trains to advertise peace in Nairobi.
