    The Pope: From a Student's Perspective

    As a non-Catholic student in high school, I find the Pope to be a fascinating piece of history. And that's where it stops. To me, the Pope is a relic ancient times and early Christianity. The fact that an earthly man has the right to rule over those in a particular denomination seems so outdated and not relevant to this time period. With modern-day technology and muckraking, Popes have no hope of living up to their angelic predecessors.
    I believe that the resignation of the Pope is just another sign of a changing world. No longer is this a lifelong profession, and no longer is it relevant. Maybe Popes will have twenty year terms, who knows? As a student, I believe that I will see any changes in religion and beliefs in the future, starting with the old-fashioned ways of the Catholic Church.
