"Armenian Bravery" or Azeri youths beaten in Paris over Khojaly massacre
Mirvari Fataliyeva (29), the administrator of the House of Azerbaijan in Paris, and student Vusal Huseynov (25) were attacked when they went to listen to a meeting whose audience included up to 40 members of the national Armenian Revolutionary Federation Party, or Dasnaksutyun, and reminded that February 26 was the anniversary of the massacre at Khojaly.
In 1992, 613 Azerbaijani civilians were murdered when Armenian forces attacked Khojaly.
Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Paris Elcin Amirbayov said that he had rushed to the parliament after hearing of the event and witnessed security officers save Fataliyeva and Huseynov from the mob. He personally took the two youths to the nearest hospital after initial health assistance at the parliament building.
Ambassador Amirbayov stated that the hospital staff identified that Vusal Huseynov had suffered a broken rib and damage to his internal organs, and that Mirvari Fataliyeva had bruises on her face as a result of the assault.
Azerbaijani news agency APA wrote that the two youths had been able to survive the incident since female protestor Mirvari Fataliyeva managed to escape while Vusal Huseinov was being beaten and ask the people at a meeting in another room for help.
According to the APA, the meeting was attended by so-called Nagorno-Karabakh state representative to France Hovhannes Kevorkian, Armenia's Ambassador to Paris Viken Tchitetchian, so-called former foreign minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh state Georgi Petrossyan, Val de Marne MP René Rouquet, Loire MP François Rochebloine, nationalist Armenian party Dasnaksutyun’s representative to western European Mourad Papazian, and up to 40 Dashnak activists and sympathizers. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a de facto independent but unrecognized state, as the territory is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan.
Regarding the event, Mirvari Fatalyeva has stated that the French lawmakers simply remained as spectators, and that she intends to take the incident to French courts with a forensic medical report.
