    Hip Replacement

    My 90 year old mother had a hip replacement in June of 2012. It was a partial, the bottom part of the joint is metal, and the top ball was put into her existing socket. Hospital stay was five days and a comprehensive home care service including a daily nurse and physiotherapist was included. This is eight months ago and she's getting around fine, using a treadmill and living on her own as usual.

    Total cost to her was zero. Welcome to socialized medicine here in Canada.

    We are happy with the level of service here and I don't see any downside.
