Where Do Iranians want to move
PUBLIC OPINION SURVEY OF TEHRAN, TABRIZ AND AHVAZ
Conducted: April-August 2012
Background
In late April through late August 2012, the Institute of Advanced International Studies, undertook the task of conducting a survey in three large Iranian cities—the capital Tehran, Tabriz in the northeast and Ahvaz in the south. Sample groups included people of different ages, socio-economic backgrounds and educational levels. In Tehran, 200 individuals were interviewed. The number was limited to 100 individuals in each of the other two cities, Tabriz and Ahwaz. The survey required nearly four months to complete—much longer than standard opinion polls—because the Institute took extra precautions to safeguard the security of both interviewers and interviewees. Our initial sample size was to be 800; however because of security concerns, the number was reduced to 400.
