Store-bought biscuits simply do not compare to homemade buttermilk biscuits and it isn’t that difficult to make and requires simple ingredients that are probably already in your pantry. All you need is flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, unsalted butter, and chilled buttermilk. If you don’t have buttermilk, you can easily make one at home by combining one tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to every cup of milk and waiting until the mixture curdles. The resulting solution is what you call buttermilk. Basically, the dry ingredients are mixed together and the butter is folded in gradually to make a coarse meal. The buttermilk is added last and the dough is gently kneaded around six times. They are then shaped into biscuits, placed in the baking sheet, baked in a 425 degree F oven for about 12 to 15 minutes or until nice and golden brown.
