    Your 'Aha' weight-loss moments

    Inspiration

    Good day,

At the age of 54 and in good health I am more cognizent than ever of preparing to be in shape for the coming years. I always go for my annual check up and at my recent visit my Dr. mentioned I could shed a few pounds. That caught me off guard as I always thought I was fine with my weight. I am in the 196 weight class on a 5` 11`` frame. I mentioned this to my sister and she told me of a website called `Sparkpeople`` This is one of the most ingenious sites I have come across as my profession is developing websites. I registered 12 days ago, have been on the treadmill every morning for half an hour and this morning I am weighing in at 187 lbs with a goal to reach 170. According to the profile I have registered with Sparkpeople I should reach my goal by May 20, 2013. I must admit this is very agressive, however, I have set the goal high. As a matter of fact the Sparkpeople program has sent me a warning that I am burning to many calories and my intake is less than the perameters I have set which is between 1500 and 1850 calories per day. I burn between 240 and 290 calories on the treadmill and the dog walks me twice per day for an additional 40 calories combined. It takes some trial and error on the input of information and you can use other peoples input on the nutritional values, calories and carbs etc. Equally as important is keeping a routine for your own input. Next goal is to get back riding my bike when the weather breaks North of the 49th. I hope this inspires many of you as I plan on being a mean, lean dancin machine in two thousand & thirteen. www.sparkpeople.com
