Pork Chops with Apple Gravy
Apples and pork are naturals together. This recipe gets its apple flavor from applesauce, ideally the kind without added sugar.
Ingredients
3 lb. pork chops
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1/3 cup flour
1 tablespoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 cups boiling water
2 1/2 cups applesauce
1 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Preparation Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Heat a large skillet over medium. Add the pork chops (one or two at a time, if necessary) and brown on both sides.
Place the browned chops in a 3 quart casserole dish.
In the same skillet, sauté the garlic until barely golden. Add the flour, salt, and pepper and blend well. Add the water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the liquid thickens.
Add the applesauce and lemon juice. Blend well, then pour over the pork chops.
Bake 1 ½ hours, basting every half hour
