Your T-shirt tales |
Anyone remember "Ghost Motorcycles?"
Ghost Motorcycles was born around early 1950's, Port Washington, L.I. N.Y. owned by Sal DeFeo. Anybody who wanted anything to do with motorcycles (especially foreign) on L.I. Queens, N.Y. the East coast and farer shores went there. My companion got his first dirt bike, a CZ 250 Moto-Czech there. It was the place to go and Sal was always willing to make a deal.
One story is it was named Ghost because there was a mysterious rider around town who the police were always trying to catch but couldn't. Rumor is it was Sal.
This shirt is about 30 years old and given to me by my friend Marc Lorenc who used to hang there.. I keep this T because it is history, memories, nostalgia. It was a great time and place.
Funny thing is when I was given the T I didn't ride and wouldn't. Now in my 60's I ride occasionally.
