DAVAO CITY -- PRESIDENT Benigno Simeon Aquino III will be in Davao City once more, this time to campaign for his senatorial candidates, majority of whom dominate the so-called “Magic 12” in the latest political survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations.
This was learned from Rep. Isidro T. Ungab, Davao City chapter chairman of the administration-backed Liberal Party and Team PNoy coordinator.
Team PNoy will hold a rally at the Rizal Park starting 5 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with no less than the President, Mayor Sara D. Carpio and Vice Mayor Rody Duterte leading the endorsers.
With Senator Franklin Drilon as campaign manager, Team PNoy is composed of Sonny Angara, Bam Aquino, Alan Peter Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, Riza Hontiveros, Loren Legarda, Jamby Madrigal, Ramon Magsaysay Jr., Koko Pimentel, Grace Poe, Sonny Trillanes and Cynthia Villar.
Also expected to campaign for the slate are vice mayoral bet Paolo Duterte, former vice mayor Luis Bonguyan, who is the group’s bet for First District congressman, 2nd District Congresswoman Mylene Garcia and Ungab himself, who are all identified as leaders of the dominant Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod local party.
Team PNoy is a combination of candidates from the LP, Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nacionalista Party (NP), PDP-Laban, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) and Akbayan Partylist.
Nine of the 12 candidates landed in the so-called Magic 12 of the Social Weather Stations’ latest political survey, wherein the respondents nationwide were asked if elections were held Feb. 15-17, who would they vote for senator?
The Team PNoy bets in the winning column are Legarda, Escudero, Cayetano, Villar, Poe and Pimentel who ranked first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth places.
Other Team PNoy candidates in the Magic 12 , according to the SWS poll, are Aquino, Angara and Trillanes.
Only three of the rival UNA (United Nationalist Alliance) slate are in the winning 12. They are Nancy Binay, JV Ejercito and Migs Zubiri.
Among the local politicians who are campaigning for the LP coalition are those running for councilors in the city’s three congressional districts. BOT
